Unconventional Gas Research Initiative

Delft University of Technology has launched UGRI to accelerate the development of unconventional gas resources for play openers in Europe by providing integrated research & knowledge support.

UGRI’s mission is to accelerate and foster the environmentally responsible development of unconventional gas resources.

The UGRI vision is to become a leader in unconventional gas R&D by optimizing technology application & enabling value creation. The development of unconventional gas resources contributes to the EU’s Greenhouse Gas reduction targets as the transition to renewable energy resources needs time and natural gas is a relatively clean fossil energy source.

The program’s run-time is scheduled for the next 10 years and must reach the stated goals by 2020.
